Had trouble getting one of the cups off, eventually came off but pulled the bearing with it.
How do I get the bearing out of the cup?
Ring Mr Royce....you will probably have to listen to loads of techy shit you'd rather not be hearing but he is generaly a very helpful geezer
If it's on the five year old mark...I found they gave up around then so maybe not worth bothering......I did the maths and went back to Shimano
Heat it in boiling water to expand the cup, tap the bearing out with a hammer and drift(I find it easier if it's in the frame as it doesn't move about). Been using standard bearings in mine, work out much cheaper than Royce labyrinth sealed versions, with no obvious drawbacks to me(think Hope may also do them in stainless now).
Thanks for the reply coatesy.
Trouble is, there is nothing to tap against. The inner hole diameter on the bearing is exactly the same as the axle hole on the cup? The bearing is good, I just wanted to replace the cup as it has had it.
I could cut into the cup I guess but seems a bit extreme?
Usually there's just enough purchase with a sharp edged drift to tap it out, will come out very easily if the cup is hot.
Other alternative is to refit the lot back on the axle, then heat the cup and it'll usually come off leaving the bearing behind.
