Done very little mtb-ing this year and don't see next year being and different so wanting to move in my canyon strive and replace with an xc bike. Where is best to sell or advertise for a swap?! classifieds on here or pink bike? Facebook market place? eBay? What are people's experiences?

If it's facebook, be very aware of scammers. The amount of folk I got messaging me with the immediate question of where the bike was located was quite terrifying. A quick click on their profile convinced me they were looking for theft targets rather than genuine buyers.
Pinkbike and here have been ok for me over the years. Pinkbike does tend to have more of the "will you take half the asking price plus an 8 year old xbox?" mob
eBay, on a £1 fee weekend.
ebay generally works well, as mentioned above go for the £1 fee if you can

eBay has been brilliant for me, especially with the £1 selling fee. I’ve just sold a bike on there within 24 hours, I didn’t think I had priced it too low but obviously I did judging by the interest! I’ve sold a few other bikes on there over the last year, all went quickly with no fuss or idiots. 🙂

If it’s priced right I find you do pretty well on here to be honest. EBay sometimes gets a bit more but more likely to get people being annoying...
