[#10192629]

I have the new long shot soul in a medium. Spec is as follows.

Cotic Soul mercury magenta size M

2018 pike debonair

Shimano xt groupset and brakes

cotic 35mm stem and joystick builder bars.

Xfusion manic 150mm dropper with a fabric scoop saddle.

I want to keep the wheels but will put on a set of Bontrager line comp 30 to sell it as a complete bike

I'm having trouble valuing the bike as it is so new and none on ebay or for sale anywhere. I know what I payed for all the parts. Would I be better selling a whole bike or strip it for parts?

Probably about 50% of RRP or what someone is prepared to pay. I suspect you may do best by selling parts separately.

Can’t help with the value of the bike but by and large you’ll get more splitting it up but then you have to factor in the hassle of a) the splitting and b) the dealing with multiple idio... I mean buyers.

I would therefore take the hit on the price and sell it as a complete bike.

It's always less than you think. Take some nice pictures, put a price up you may get takers...otherwise split.

Its a custom spec bike so the closest on the cotic website is the gold spec with the optional helm fork for £2799, but it doesn't have the XT cranks it has race face turbine cranks and imo xt are superior.

Realistically the difference in cranks won't make any difference to the value of the bike.

You could always try listing it on eBay as a bit it now or best offer and see if anyone bites. I reckon you might get 50% of what you paid, but sometimes you can get more than expected. I recently sold a Canyon and was surprised by how well it had held its value.

I'd suggest putting it on at around £1,500 and hope for the best. As above, the sale price will almost certainly be much lower than you are imagining.

I can't understand this half rrp thing, having bought and sold dozens of bikes over the years, I just think it's a stw myth. A 2018 new geometry Soul for half rrp? Really...

Or if it is only stw user's that won't pay over that, then risk ebay. However, as a regular user of the classifieds, I think it is only those that offer the half rrp advice that believe it.

Exactly.

I bet if he stuck it up for 1/2 RRP he'd sell it within 15 minutes on here.

The half RRP thing doesn't originate on STW.  I first saw it in a mag, years ago.  The STW 'estimate' on what things are 'worth' is nearly always very low.
