I've bought some Deore m595 disc brakes but they've come euro configured. Can anyone help me with swapping the hoses round?

Probably just a case of undoing the hose from each lever and swapping it to the other, then a re-bleed. Sounds to simple so I could be wrong, but its what I'd do

Hi. Yes, I figured that's what I needed to do, it's not immediately obvious how the hoses are undone though.

Ah right, sorry. Looking on the net it seems where the hose fits the lever there's a barrel adjuster type thing, I'd guess at just ubscrewing that, it seems to be the most logical thing.

if you look at that picture you see the pastic bit where the hose goes into the lever, that is a cosmetic shroud and can be pulled back. Pull it back and underneath is a set of spanner flats so you can uncrew the hose from the brake lever. I suppose if your going to do it the "right way" you should replace the olive, in practice should be ok.

What i would say don't take the hose off the brake lever, take it off the caliper. If only so that when you bleed the caliper the air is at that end already and you need less oil.

Have a look on You tube, there is bound to be a video!

My XTs are older than yours, but the compression olive jobby at the lever end was a real little prick.

i was trying to put braided hoses on, so had to do the lever end as well, but upon pulling the hose out of the lever end, it destroyed the compression olive iirc.

do the caliper end and you shouldnt have any issues.

with a little care, keep the open end higher than the rest of the hose, and use the minisucus of the fluid when reconnecting, it is possible to get away with not having to bleed them at all!

Google 'shortening Shimano hoses' you should find a guide which shows you how to remove hoses and refit without bleeding your brakes. It's that simple I managed to do it!
