Ok, can't quite work out what's happening at the moment with the headset. I got an On One frame with the main part of the headset installed and am now trying to sort out fitting the forks to the frame. In the instructions for the remaining parts of the headset, the piece that goes onto the fork steerer is described as a split ring, which has been supplied, but the crown of the forks are rubbing on the bottom of the head tube and there doesn't appear to be a very good seal at all from keeping mud and crud out of the headset.

There also seems to be another part, which seems to fit onto the fork steerer (with a bit of persuasion) and seems to cover over the bottom of the headset much better and doesn't allow the fork crown to rub on the bottom of the head tube

Has anyone had any experience of FSA headsets and can you let me know what you did?

Before anyone suggests contacting FSA, I already have - I just haven't had a response (from a day or so ago)

Cheers

there are two split bits, one is the crown race and will need some gentle persuasion to seat it on the crown and the other is a wedged locator which goes on the steere tube and is pressed down between the top bearing and the steerer.

I think you have them mixed up.

That would be the crown race. It needs to be flush against the fork crown, and is what the lower bearing cup sits on.

If you're unsure about any of this, then take it to your bike shop.

Cheers for the responses. From what you've said, it sounds as though the instructions from FSA aren't particularly clear and that the "other part" which fits at the bottom of the fork steerer with a bit of persuasion is in fact the crown race. I'll try again and if it works, I'll carry on, if not, I'll go to the LBS!
