105 BB on my Genesis - creaking like anything, so sounds like its on the way out. I have a Hope spare, with fresh bearings in.

Reached for my shimano adapter, popped it on, attached my tool and immediately snapped it. "Never mind" I thought - I have another. Popped that on, gave it some welly and immediately the teeth gave way - looks like its made of cheese now.

So I bought one of these - Park Tool BBT-29. Arrived today - looks like it will fit, but just will not fit on the bottom bracket.

So I'm really confused - and annoyed. Can anyone recommend anything?

Don't want to sound a tit, but you are turning it the right way?

BBT-29 is for dura ace / xtr (39mm OD cups)
BBT-59.2 is for ultegra (bbr60) and XT (mt800) (41mm OD cups)
BBT-69.2 is for all the BBs that used the original 44mm OD cups.

I'm pretty sure I did but did wonder about the way I turned it the first time.

But yes - am definitely turning it the right way now - well I would be if I had a tool or adapter (not made of cheese) that fitted it.

Have just found a video that confirms the Dura Ace are slightly different size to Ultegra/105 (why would they do that???) - the tool I bought will only fit Dura Ace.

You’d be better with a full cup type and use a socket driver

That looks like the BBT-59.2 simondbarnes mentioned above (but cheaper typically). I bought the BBT-59.2. Thanks anyway.

Simon should really get £1 for every time he answers this question.

When life gets back to normal, he could take us all out for a pint.
