[#1626044]

Hi there i got a litespeed hardtail at the mo ment for 100m travel forks, and im after some new forks as iv just had a bit of a pay rise so up to £450 ish.

Some people tell me to get 120mm travel forks and people say stick to 100mm that my frames geo is ment foe, iv never had any problems with 100mm travel so im more tempted to stick with them. Question is what forks to get i have been looking at reba xx's but also like the look of magura forks but im open to other suggestions before i plunge and spend the cash. Any sugestions on good forks? and where to get them from?

cheers pete

Not checked prices lately, but Last month you'd struggle to get Reba XX for £450. I believe you looking more towards the RS Reba Team 120mm with Maxle (power bulge & Black box damping- so pretty damned good apparently), you can convert it down to 100mm if you don't get on with it @ 120.

SID Team. I have bought 2 for less than 400 euros each in the last 6 months. Merlin currently have them for 445 Euros. Cracking fork and nice and light.

2010 100mm Reba Teams @ £305 in Merlin.

2010 SID Teams @ £390 in Merlins.

If you're frame is meant for 100mm forks then stick with 100mm, something to do with the angles n dangles, and it being slacker, which I think means slower steering or something...

Opps yes I was a bit off the mark with the pricing... sorry but I'd still choose the Maxle Reba's.

magura's rock, very plush, damping isn't as clever as others though, feel ver reminicent of old coil sprung marzocchis, but a hell of a lot stiffer and half the weight.

Have you had a look at the 2010 manitou range? I myself run revelations and have always been a rockshox fan. A friend recently purchased some 2010 manitou minutes, they are really really nice! They have proper seals too and the service intervals are way way longer than the likes of rockshox/fox etc (every 6 months with regular riding). They are pretty cheap compared to other brands too!

He got his from captiv bikes.

I bought a pair of Reba Race Team, a couple of year ago, around 07/08.

Very, very good. Thats where I'd be looking if I were you.

However, on the strength of that purchase. I later bought a pair of SLs from Merlin, for another bike.
Turned out the forks from Merlin were grey-import, and I did have an issue with those.
So, where as the Reba Race forks are good, imo, and where as some people don't seem to mind having grey imported parts.

I'd just say make sure you know what you're getting before handing over the folding.
🙂

Defo consider the Rebas.

I had this dilemma a couple of months ago. Ended up getting Magura Durins and haven't regretted it for a moment.

New SIDs are excellent. Got mine from Merlin, with manual and pushloc, but no pump or original box.

+1 for maxle reba, very stiff, and still light.

+2 for the maxle reba team. Damping is better than older motion control too. Excellent fork.

There's no problem with OEM forks sold cheap... FYI the Roxkshox warranty is worldwide. A mate bought a pair of argyles from the states on ebay and they popped an o-ring straight away. Fishers fixed them for him for free.

I've got some 09 Reba teams and some 07 Durins. The Rebas win hands down for damping, and were cheaper (from on-one) than the Durins were at trade. The Durins do seem a tinsy bit stiffer steering though.
