My good lady wife and I will have two days in late October to ride some of the Mid Wales trail centres. The plan is to leave South Wales, (Abergavenny,) early in the morning, (having deposited our two cherubs with grand parents,) drive north, have two thirds of a day's riding, stay at a good hotel, have another two thirds or a day's riding and then head back. Our original plan was to ride Coed y Brenin for two days and get a hotel in Dolgellau, is this a good plan or are their better combinations of trail centres we could ride? (Looking at 7 Stains red type routes.) If so any good hotel options?
Thanks for your help.
My vote would be to go to Machynlleth, stay at the Wynnstay Arms, ride the CliMaxx first and then Mach 3 which will give you a variety of different types of trail from forest man made to waymarked natural. May be a bit exposed out on the hill in late October though so you could drive back to Nant Yr Arian on the second day which is right by the A44 and do the Syfydrin/Summit trail.Wynnstay Hotel Link
+1 for a trip to Nant Yr Arian ... a different trail centre experience to most.
