I'm after a bit of help with my trip.
I'm travel up from Portsmouth to go to a few trail centres in the north of England and the south of Scotland. I'm heading away by myself so don't want to go too remote.
So far had list has got to
Gisburn
Keswick
Whinlatter
Ae
Dalbeattie
Glentress
Are there any glaring omissions and does anyone have any advice on what routes, where to say etc. I'm in the early planning stage. Well, I have booked the time off work.
Please fire away with your suggestions!
You could easily add Cannock on the way up or down, Junc 11 if coming from the south or 14 would probably work from the north off the M6.
There's also Delamere in Cheshire but Gisburn probably trumps that, depends how long your trip is.
I'd kick myself if I made the trip to Dumfries & Galloway and didnt do Kirroughtree. Best of the lot IMO.
And Mabie is not far from Dalbeattie anyway - nice little route.
Mabie house hotel is a nice place to stay too, but not a cheap bunkhouse ๐
Keswick is Whinlatter ( but worth a couple of days to do some natural riding).
I would substitute Ae for Mabie.
Forgot about Cannock, been there a few times and have friends near by so will stop off there on the way back down.
Will look into kirroughtree though, and mabie
