[#2877419]

Hi all, I recently brought a 2nd hand set of hope tech m4’s I have fitted them to my bike but I am having problems with lining the front rotor up so that it runs smoothly through the centre of the calliper so much so that the wheel will hardly rotate. I need to move the calliper a good 3-4mm over to the non-drive side of the bike but the adjustment on the calliper will not allow this as it is at its limit allready.

I have spoken to hope and all seems correct from their point of view.

My set up is, hope tech m4 front brake with (brand new, ie straight) 203mm rotor, the rotor is attached via a Shimano centre lock adaptor to a XTR 20mm through axel front hub. The calliper (post mount) is attached via a hope mount with the letter B on it to a pair of talas 36’s from 2006 ish which have a IS mount system.

Is it a question of compatibility or not as the case may be?

A friend suggested machining a few mm of the back of the centre lock adaptor, should it not work in the first place though?

Can anyone shed some light on this please as it is driving me mad.......

using a centre lock adaptor might move the disc over too far - try a actual center lock disc? Or use washers to space the caliper mount over further.

When I used an adaptor it spaced the rotor out too far so I used a centrelock rotor instead.

I was using a Shimano adaptor and a Shimano SM-RT79 floating type rotor.

How would that work?

Cheers all, I might see if I can get a local engineer to take a few mill of the back of the adaptor and then shim it out with some spaces so that the lock ring will still do it’s job. It’s really annoying that it won’t all work together straight out of the box.
