Just bought a Patriot 66 frame and built up the bike, had to take it in to the shop for a few bits so picking it up tomorrow and then going to the Alps on thursday. So testing time is minimal... only ever had air shocks and I tend to run them firmer than the 30% probably 25%.
So this is the model without the piggy back, how do I set it up, how do I know how far to tighten the spring v's add air. Looked on Manitou site and carn't get the right manual.
Thanks
if its the same as mine the coil is preload, the air is for anti-bob spv or whatever they call it
so i set my sag to about 30% depending on how gnarly the terrain is
with the spring preload
the blue rebound dial i just set to what felt right and not touched it since!
i think the pro-pedal is max 175psi, i think i have about 140 (im about 12.5 stone and i like my ride firm) in there, but for alps a bit less, with no air my kona stab does bob about like crazy
I had the piggy back ( still got it in fact ) You need a close ish spring for your weight , and the rocker / leverage rate of your bike. I bought mine with a 500 lb / in , but dropped in real quick to a 350 lb / in . Then sat on the bike and got a mate to measure the sag . I set mine up at 25% , by using the knurled adjuster to increase the preload slightly. Then I set up the air chamber with IIRC 120 psi ( i am 80 kg with pack on ) The rebound.- set it and session a rooty bumpy section until it feels smooth, too much rebound damping and it will pack down and your rear wheel will drift left , like you have a puncture ish.
Mine was Tf'd and when it was returned it 'woofed' like a pathetic dog bark on the rebound.
