[#3165672]

UI want to place an order over my lunch break so any quick responses would be most appreciated. About to buy a DE light and there are a few aand I can't quite see what the difference is - CLICKY

Smooth crown, assault crown, ridged crown? What the h*ll is the difference?! [Looking at the T6 ones and not the P7].

Many thanks in advance.

I bought the one at the top of that list T6 Water Resistant. Not sure what an 'assualt crown' would do but that one works for me. Beam is pretty tight but that suits me.

Crown makes bugger all difference, unless you fancy attacking ppl with your torch. A 'normal' torch with an assault crown might be useful but on these bike head units are just for looks...

Supposedly you want an orange peel reflector, for a better spread, so the bottom red un might be the one to go for... I've not seen both reflectors to compare the beams though.
EDIT: No that's the lower spec P7 LED rather than the better XM-L LED...

There was mention that Deal Extreme has a UK warehouse now, will try to locate the thread.. http://www.dealextreme.com/c/100002

THey do, on the DX Site just click "US/UK Warehouse" and select UK. THey only have 185 lines and none of the bike lights currently.

I went for the $44.30 one - as it was 10c cheaper than the next one. 🙂

I just ordered the $44.30 one as well, for road use. Also grabbed the 9 led rear light for $3.38. Will probably explode, but might be ok.

Now we play the waiting game......

Yes there's a UK Warehouse and there's a link on DE to what they have available. Just ordered to the one that you put down Gary as a friend sent me the link to that particular one originally. I'm not expecting the world for £30 but that'll do! It's got a smooth internal face, might be an error but I'll find out soon enough... 4-6 weeks anyway!!

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at what you do get though. It is a very good light for the money.

My mates Deal Extreme lights are fantastic.

I've just ordered these for the Mrs as recommended on here. The choice and options is more than a bit confusing!

Just remember the ones you have ordered are the SSC-P7 LEDs and not the newer XML-T6s, Gravity-Slave.

Released in December 2010, the Cree XM-L T6, rated at 1000 Lumen is brighter and more energy efficient than the Seoul SSC P7, and being Cree, you know it is going to be better quality and not blow as soon as a few extra mA are applied.
Add a regulated driver which maintains the brightness for the full battery life, rather than gradually dimming as with the SSC P7 and I think that sound you here is the death knell for the P7.

With all this talk of lights and a interesting encounter with a dark bridge on the trans penine last night, i've been taking a look at the deal Extreme lights.

Out of interest when it comes to payment does anyone know if you get a better exchange rate using your paypal account or paying by credit card?
