Situation:
New frame: head tube = tapered = top 1-1/8, Bottom 1.5
Old Forks 1/18
Headset = fully integrated (no cups)
Will a Hope Combi Internal Headset work?
I dont think you can get integrated converters can you?
Dunno, what frame is it?
Felt Edict - integrated head set - tapered - need to run my 1-1/8 sterrer in it?
Sounds like the frame has 44mm top ID and 55mm bottom ID.
Should be this which you need : http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=41851
No that's a semi-integrated system isn't it?
Could you not buy a 1/18th - 1.5 integrated headset (I dont know exactly what size you need but you need to measure the diameter of the bit where the bearings sit in the frame) Then buy a suitable reducer crown race to suit?
44mm top is semi integrated and needs pressed into the headtube.
Measure the internal diameter of the headtube and let us know....
If it's 41mm or 41.8mm it's road style integrated so you will need to find out if it's cane creek or campag fit. These would have the bearing set into the headtube rather than pressed in.
Its a road system - "fully integrated" - so its just bearings only system - no cups - I would thing you woud either need a 1-1/8 insert or as you sa a suitable 1.5 to 1-1/8 crown race step down?
@dhrider - I don't think you can press fit a semi-integrated cup into a integrated head tube?
The frame is this and I have not bought it yet just planning ahead?

If you buy an FSA 1 1/8 - 1.5 headset then theres a good chance one of their reducer crown races will match the lower bearings?
What headsets do the bikes come with complete?
No, you can't. The diameters are different!
Not many MTB frames use a road style tapered integrated headtube hense the confusion and difficulty of finding the right headset!
Looks like you need something like http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=59620
BUT with a reducer 1 1/8" crown race.
Yeh excatly DH - Hmmm - damn
Since you got a new frame just buy some tapered forks 😉
Problem solved!
😥
Get the frame supplier to provide the correct headset at the same time, problem
Solved 😉
Its just I am trying to use a 1-1/8 fork in a frame designed to take a tapered steerer but is integrated 🙁
Why cant you just do what I said and use a reducer crown race?
I can't find one - however I did use the Cane creek Heaset finder:
Your Headset
Based on the information you have provided, your headset falls within the tapered standard and requires:
Top Headset:
SHIS:IS41 - 1-1/8" Cane Creek Integrated Threadless
Bottom Headset:
SHIS:IS52/30 - 1.5" Integrated (IS) to 1-1/8" Conversion
eh? what about it?
Found it:
http://www.singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/titus-ftm-carbon-anyone-got-one-from-on-one-yet
Its a 1.5" bearing with a reducer ring/crown race 🙂
Ordered from http://www.bike-mailorder.de/ for £28
Im lost.
Do you know the bearings in that headset fit the diameter of the frame your intending to buy?
yes - David - its an IS 1.5 - the cane creek headset finder gave me the result (see above) which is the same as the Titus carbon frames which the others have had a problem with. It is not an ISi.
Basically the frame comes with an IS integrated tapered headset. The top I can keep but the bottom I need to alter to use a 1-1/8 steerer. So above will slot into the bottom IS 1.5 but reduce to 1-1/8 internal diam for the steerer as it comes with a reducer crown race.
Great stuff, I struggle cos I cant view half of these links. But I see the numbers 41 & 52 in your post up there which Im assuming are the OD of the bearings and hence your frame must be the same so it'll al probably work out rather nicely.
yup - happy now 🙂
