I am trying to work out what headset i need to buy but i am confused which one to buy.

Depends on your fork. Qwerty Cycles will be able to sort you out.

I'm guessing it's a 1.5" head tube like on my Prophet?
When my original Cannondale headset wore out I replaced it with a Hope Stepdown (fork steerer is 1 1/8") which has been good for a couple of years so far.
