I've got an epic bleed kit and had to remove lever to install on a new frame I've followed the instructions to the letter 6 times and still no joy I used the Shimano one with the pot and b4 loads of times and no problems at all can someone shed a bit of light
Do this.
But... bear in mind that there are two little recesses inside XT callipers that collect oil and will knacker your pads if you let it slosh around too much, I’d be tempted to let it collect in the rag.
Step 10 on Page 22 is crucial.

Glad to be of service, bleeding Shimanos is about the only bit of bike maintenance I can do well, well that and servicing my Yari’s.

Yeah, I tried the above method with my XTs, the pistons moved beautifully and they felt amazing, much better than they did new - unfortunately, oil collected in the recesses of the slot of the caliper and ruined 2 sets of pads before I worked out what went wrong. Perhaps the 4 pots don’t have that and you can get away with just a wipe over.
