Have you tried doing a download? Hold in the 'backup' button, located on the front somewhere, turn off at mains keeping the button pressed. Count to 30 or so and keeping the button pressed then turn it back on. Keep your finger on the backup button until a message appears on the screen, or until all the lights come on on the box then release the button. Wait until the message disappears (UPDATING SYSTEM SOFTWARE etc.). Give it another couple of mins. and try turning the box back on. I was a sky 'engineer' a few years ago but that's what we used to do. Good luck.

Try an AV forum for advice.

I know the new HD menu has been causing problems, apparently the box will now switch from input 1 to input 2 even if not recording among other things.

I have phoned Sky numerous times have had 3 engineer visits, totally sick of it and will be getting rid of it in February when the contract is up.
