You guys have bought helmets to adapt with this?

I'm not prone to falling on my noggin so helmets have always lasted me some time, gone through a fox flux, poc trabec and a fox dropframe over the past 13 years and always just thought sweat drip was part and parcel 😂 when stopping for a drink or a snack have always just pressed the helmet up against my head whilst looking down to sponge out the sweat before carrying on.

The fox dropframe hasn't been used since may though I do too much climbing on my rides for that thing to be comfy in anything but winter, the sweats not the issue it's the overheating bonce. Have gone back to my POC trabec and just pushing it against my forehead to squeeze the sweat out.

Was going to buy a speedframe but will hold off now after reading your guys comments, been looking at Smith helmets too

Nah, tried the buff thing, it doesn’t work for me, I just end up with a very wet buff and very wet head and very wet helmet pads. I’ll give the Oakley a go, and see what that’s like. L

That's more or less what I imagined would happen and the reason I've never tried a buff. Did the sopping wet buff keep your head cooler though [bleurgh green faced emoji][hilarious laughing with tears emoji]

One of the better helmets I've used was an Alpina XC type lid cheap from one of the German sites before Brexit. Still use it for commuting. For MTB have a Fox Mips trail style lid that was very cheap in some offer last year. Sweaty AF. Pads just soak it all up and then drip down my face.

Catlike Leaf used to be fairly good too /back in the day/.

I bought an Oakley DRT5 after the recommendations in this thread.

Been using it for a few weeks and I'm not impressed.

I'm still getting sweat dripping onto my glasses, I have to keep taking the helmet off to drain the sweat out of the rubber channels.

I think part of the problem is that the MIPS plastic liner isn't well vented and sits right on my head due to having no pads, the sweat can't evaporate and it all runs down my forehead.

On the plus side it fits well, is comfortable and the glasses holder is handy when the sweat starts dripping onto my sunnies!

Try wearing a buff, with the excess hanging out the back. It can be an effective wick.

Waaay to hot for me in the summer, I wear ine in the winter to keep my head warm.

Headband under the crash helmet for me in the hot weather, it works a treat.

Well, I've persevered with my DRT5 and even with today's 5° temps I'm still getting sweat dripping into my eyes/glasses 😞

I bought a halo sweatband mentioned on the previous page.

Horrible, just got saturated and didn't work. Ended up leaking all over my face worse than the steady release from a sweaty helmet

halo headbands won’t stop you sweating, but keep the sweat out of your eyes.

edit: just saw post above! the 2 people i know who use them like them. i used to use an ordinary sweat band

white helmets are also cooler than darker colours when it’s sunny
