My old exposure joystick needs a new battery (its the first of the maxx models), but I am wondering if its worth it, or if I should look at replacing it with the latest model, or getting something else. I think its 240 lumens, so the latest one is 25% brighter, I don't think that is enough to justify the cost of a new one.

Are there any other worthwhile options that come in a little cheaper?

Have you contacted Exposure to see what they would charge to replace the battery?

I'd buy a cheap torch (P7 model probably but that's a matter of taste really) and with just a little luck fit it into your excellent joystick clamp. Will give you a nice power upgrade and also the convenience of replacable batteries (good for longer rides etc) but will be bigger and likely a little heavier.

Certainly wouldn't spend a penny on the Joystick, or on a newer one.
