I take it Muc-Off isn’t the best idea for cleaning the outside of helmets? What to use instead?

Eh !  Why on earth do you need to clean it.  If mine gets really muddy Ive on occasion used the sponge from the kitchen sink when the missus wasn't at home.  But just how dirty have you got your helmet ?

I work on the basis that whilst it's technically not clean. Halitic pressure will keep it safe enough.

Soap and water sounds like a plan.

Leave it outside in the rain, just take the pads out so they don't smell.

When it gets really manky, I get a plastic box with a lid- like a really useful box- fill it with water and a wee bit of baby shampoo, throw helmet in, put lid on (so it's pushed under water) then just leave it. I'll give ti a stir every so often when I can be bothered. Comes out fresh as anything and dpesn't take me any effort

With gin.

Rain doesn’t work. I spend enough time riding the bike in that...
