My helmet gives me the mushroom look and it looks massive on my head even though it fits perfectly.

I am due for a change now as my current one is looking a bit battered.

Can anyone recommend a small looking lid?

Have a look at some kids helmets, added bonus of no VAT to pay. I once got a kids Met helmet that didn't turn me into a mushroom cloud.

No VAT on any helmets.

S-Works 2D works for me, the small is nice and small. It's also incredibly light and full of holes. Not cheap mind.

I think the giro hex maybe a good choice.

I tried the small on today and even though it was too small it didn't look like too big.

I might buy a medium off the net and see how it goes.

Giros generally look quite large - but provide good coverage.

Specialized always seem to sit "on top of the head".

Met seem less prominent on smaller heads.

Now I have a proper small head. I can wear my 3 year old girl's hats. (not that I do outside the house)

Just bought a Giro Hex and it seems to work for me
