[#4689051]

Thinking of getting a helmet camera for mtb and skiing.

Haven't got the budget for a GoPro which seems to be the benchmark.

Budget around £80-100
Don't need HD quality as will only be watched on a small screen

The http://www.dogcamsport.co.uk/dogcam-bullet-hd-camera.html seems to fit the bill but I'm concerned about the narrow view (63o) would I be better going for something like this http://sport-cam.co.uk/proddetail.asp?prod=minihd2wide

Any 'real world' experiences welcomed!

I reckon you'll see a price crash for the older Gopros soon with the 3 out- though not quite yet as there's been a delay on the top end one, which is probably the upgrader's choice. They're a pretty good used buy, as they're durable and the parts are easily bought (though not cheap).

The old non-HD Gopro (Gopro Wide) is more or less gone now, if you can find one for cheap they're decent enough, but you ought to be able to get a HD one for your budget I reckon.

Not used either of the two above but I recently sold my old Gopro HD Hero on here for £95 delivered. If I were you I'd look at secondhand instead. Nothing really comes close to the gopro in my experience.....

Otherwise, I'm currently selling a Muvi Veho camera complete with waterproof housing and an adaptor to enable it to be mounted on gopro mounts. Only looking for £45 posted, which leave plenty in your budget for memory cards and mounts. FOV isn't as good as the gopro though...

Oli.

EDIT - Doh! Too slow....

Thanks, looks like a GoPro may be an option then!

I have the 2nd one you posted and it does a job....had it out a few times and takes ok vids, once you realise that the power button always has to be to the top,,,DOH
recorded me and my mate going down the runway at Carron Valley and got home to view it and it was sidey-ways...lesson learned,
It does take a pounding in the sound quality when high winds are against you so good to just edit sound out when making vids.
