I'll be down in Dorset in a few weeks time, and have been advised that Hell Lane is worth going to, albeit by a walker.
A quick google shows it was closed last year due to erosion, has anyone been there recently, is it open, and is it worth going along there?
Ta
Alan.
Where in Dorset are you staying? Are you riding? There may be better routes. Dorset born, bred and never heard of that trail ๐
I'll be around Dorchester. Just the one night, and all day Sunday if weather allows. If it is tipping down, then it'll be the Swanage railway and Swanage for the day.
Hell Lane is to the West of Bridport, it is a green lane, and googling shows it was closed last year due to large craters developing in it. The link below gives a view of it - apparently it is like being in a tunnel for a long way - it is in a cutting, with trees growing over the top

If you end up in Swanage, we have plenty of sandy trails that drain real well.
I am sure beardy mart has taken me up hell lane - that is not prison slang.
There is lot's of good XC around Dorchester. Especially if the trails are dry. If you're looking for more gnar head to Purbeck or have a lap around Portland with a play in Tout Quarry (all Portland trails are cheeky).
Heh heh, I definitely haven't taken you up or down Hell Lane, Charlie, prison slang or no prison slang it's a tough 4x4 type green lane that doesn't really go anywhere interesting, well, Ryall I suppose?
Blimey one cog wonder... Breaks cover after many years in stw hibernation. Welcome back.
