[#2937587]

Just about to start building up my new BFe (swapping from a medium to a small frame), and noticed how easy the paint had marked and rubbed on my old frame. Mainly this was due to a very muddy weekend trip to Wales where my knee pads had got caked in mud and rubbed on the top tube/down tube basically creating a sandpaper type effect.

So, for the new frame, I'm going to helitape up the top and down tube, but if I'm going that far is it also worth doing the seat tube too? and how about the seat and chain stays? or is that going too far?

Your tape isn't it. Go mad if you want.

If you can still reach the keyboard and post here.

Then you need more tape.

Any is too much in my opinion. A bit of rock rash gives it that properly enjoyed lok.

I always hate riding a clean bike - trying to avoid mud & puddles etc.

BigJohn - I wish I could think that way, I can't work out why I get so annoyed when I find a new scratch/mark.

I can't either. Not being prepared to get all scuffed up takes so much enjoyment away from a ride.

Or maybe I'm a bit like the bloke* who accused Heseltine of being "somebody who buys his own furniture". I am rather fond of my 60yr old watch.

*According to Alan Clark it was Michael Jopling
