Well seems I'm a victim too.

Woke this morning to find shed slightly ajar, went to have a look expecting the worse and Yep, it had gone. Absolutley F'in gutted.

Went out last night for a quick blast, got back, gave it a quick wash and locked away in the usual manner, locked through the rear wheel, the frame and shed wall. Thev'e took the bike complete with lock still attached so would have to have carried it to a waiting van or something OR the scrotes live close enough to carry it home.

Santa Cruz, Silver Anno Heckler. Medium. & RP23
Pike 426 Dual air
DT Swiss 5.1's with pro II hubs & highrollers (brand new)
Thomson 4x stem and layback seatpost
Truvative bars
Hope Mono M4 front/rear with braided hel hoses, 180mm rotors
SDG bel-air saddle
Bonterager lock on's
X9 Shifters & rear mech
XT front mech
XT Hollow tech II crank with middleburn granny standard XT middle & outer
Silver Mallet pedals
Acros graphite BB with clockwork orange end cap

Slight ding under frame just below the bottle cage mounts other that that a couple of rub marks here and there

Taken from Heald Green area, Stockport

If spotted e-mail is in profile

Been on to Police and insurance (M&S) and it's all underway for a claim as Police have little faith in recovering it.

Cheers
Carl

I'd like to keep it in the house but the Mrs says "NO". ๐Ÿ™

Just spoke with Darren at the appointed bike replacement shop, something wheels. Gave him a nice long list of whats on the bike and I just have to sit and wait now for an offer of some sort.

Anyone any tips for dealing with these shops that work for insurers sorting replacements etc...

I hate the scallies who rob bikes... the worst thing is that when they are caught, nothing happens to the little gits!

I would speak to all your local bike shops in the area and ask them to write a description and pin it on the staff notice board in the shop... they are normally happy to help with stolen bikes!

The law should be changed so that if you steal a bike, you get beaten with a stick or smthing...

Crap news sorry t hear it

Anyone any tips for dealing with these shops that work for insurers sorting replacements etc...

From Experience with M&S and their bike specialist company you don't have to accept a replacement from their supplier, I received a BACS payment for my claim so was able to source all my own kit again and could build it to whatever spec I wanted to.

Good Luck

When two of mine and the Mrs's bikes got pinched from my shed i got given a rough replacement from the insurance co- sounds the same as yours, think its called Wheelies. They don't do all brands so you may have to make do- I was given a Kona Cinder Cone which I sold...

Good luck...

Thanks for all the support people.

Sheldona- Did they put up much resistance to you wanting the cash?? as I don't fancy having to "make do" as andymc puts it, I bought the Heckler because thats what I wanted, and fully intend to get another. Whats the point of being insured like for like, if you end up out of pocket or having to settle for what your told you can have by someone?

Si- If I end up with the cash I'll be along to see you guys without a doubt. ๐Ÿ™‚

I had pretty good service from Wheelies, but it was a stock Specialized they were replacing and that probably made things a lot easier.

I know that this probably won't be any help now, but it's probably worth getting a professional estimate for a custom build - I believe a lot of insurance companies will accept these as a true value of the bike.

As sheldona said M & S will try and get you to use a preffered supplier but if you insist, with good reason (i.e. specialised equipment) then they will BACS the full value to you.

Seems there is a lot of thieving scum around at the moment reading through the posts on here. F'in bstds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wanted to jog peoples memory around the stockport area about my Silver Ano Heckler that was taken last Monday 27/07/2009.

There can't be that many around south Stockport so please keep your eye's peeled, everyone I see on a bike is a susspect at the moment.

e-mail in profile if seen.

Ta.

On a lighter brighter note it seems wheelies have gotten thier act together and have now made me an offer of an Intense Tracer vp frame with all the components to match what I had on the Heckler. Looks and sounds real nice but I'm going to see what sort of cash offer they come up with before I make a desision (sp) because at the end of the day it's not a true like for like replacement and I would definatley have another Heckler given the choice.

I have a heckler - but if I was in your shoes and was offered the intense I would take it - they are pretty pricey non?

Carlos, or anyone in a similar position, if you cntact me (mail in profile) I can show you what I sent to my insurance after my recent theft, Direct Line were brilliant, if anyone is looking for home insurance cover at the moment.

And if you out there without a note of your bikes frame number go out to the shed and write it down tonight.

Telemaster18 - Can't post up pics as don't know how to, I can e-mail a couple over if you could host them for me?

grievoustim - Mmm I know where your coming from but the Heckler wins for me personaly. I just love the looks and way it rides and feels and also not having ridden an Intense there is no way I'd accept a bike without having tested it out first and that would just prolong the replacement process even further.

Telemaster18 - Thanks for sorting out the pic.

Yeah makes you sick, every day some scrote has had off with someone elses pride and joy without any remorse at all. Festering knackers is not quite what I'd hope for, more a slip on the stairs and a snap of the neck. I know there would be no suffering but at least the world would be one less.

Just heard back off M&S and they have offered me a cash settlement which is very favorable and I have willingly accepted. Going to sort out the order for the new build tomorrow.

A happier than yesterday
Carl

Sorry for your loss

Don't forget to invest in a proper ground anchor to chain your new bike to. The thieves will come back for your new bike.
