Right, I', off to see my folks for about 3-4 days in a couple of weeks and wanted to see if anyone can point me in the right direction towards some decent downhilly, technical singletrack nuggets scattered around the Hebden/Mytholmroyd/Todmordern area.
I know the area quite well, so you don't have to be too explicit with instructions, unless of course its quite out of the way.
So far i've got:
Blue Pig
Mytholm Steeps going through the top exposed bit.
The two super rocky ones from the viewing rock in the Craggs
The main line (footpath off the main road) down to Pecket Well.
New Delight pub down to Myhtolm (loose stone track)
I've heard about Stake or Stakes Lane beginning up Scout Rocks in Mytholmroyd, and apprently its real rocky and loose but i've never actually been up there? Any ideas?
I've always assumed there must be some stuff up Midgley way and also some really decent stuff down frm Stoodley Pike but i've never been able to find anyhting directly down from the pike down towards Hebden.....
Anyway your suggestions are welcome!
Stake lane is a real rock & mud fest, not attempted it for a couple of yrs but i remember it being almost unrideable for almost all the participants in the CMBC.
There is a steep, fairly techy descent off the front face of the Stoodley Pike hill but, as it's a footpath you of course won't be heading down it at all will you? ๐
of course not! Yeah i know that about that one, right after the scree slope. I meant a bit further down than that, as in to the valley floor
have you tried the descent from Widdop reservoir into Hebden Bridge via Heptonstall. its a really fast descent and good fun. you find yourself descending for a bout 4 miles over a wide variety of surfaces.
i know Widdop rservoir and Heptonstall. But i'm struggling to see what you mean? How do you link it all up?
i'll dig the route out for you.
