Road bike.
Headset where bearings sit in cups in the head tube.
No issues with the bearings.
Top cup has developed play i.e. the bearing can move slightly when seated. Causes a rattle over bump roads & likely to get worse over time.
Any suggestions on how best to keep it seated properly.
Currently using a little gaffer tape & forced the bearing in with a vice. Not sure this will work over time.
Any thoughts appreciated.

Interesting, no response what so ever.
Not the most interesting of topics but at least it is to do with bikes.
Perhaps I didn't pitch it quite right pity can't edit now.
Would this have worked:

So my headset is rattling, that's on my 650B fat bike, can't sleep, how do UKIP with such a noise?

😉

If the race is moving around inside its cup it would suggest something is worn or worse still stretched! Try two new races as your cheapest option failing that whole new headset!

it could also be knackered bearings if you over tighten them you can crush them meaning there will be play (I've done this on a tt frame

Suggsey/Kilo - thx for replies.
Bearings not knackered.
It seems that the bearing cup (integral to the frame) is worn so doubtful that new bearings would make a difference.
It could be that the cups were always too big (but I doubt it as I have a keen ear for rattles etc.).
Need some magic paste to fill the gap!

Ouch! How about a bit of Sugru rubber to bed the races onto.

Good idea, have some Sugru in the fridge waiting for an opportunity to be used.
Will see how long the gaffer tape lasts first.
At least the rattle has gone (for now).
