Having a bit of trouble pressing a headset into my HT and it looks as if the headtube is a little flat on one side. I've heard that heating or cooling helps. Which is the best method - Freezing the cup or heating the headtube (or both). Anything I should be carefull of too? Thanks.

Are you using a proper headset press - if not just go down the LBS and get them to do it.

IME if you don't have a proper press, and it doesn't work first time...

As above get a proper press.

But freezing the cups (without the bearings in) and gently heating the headtube should help them slide in nicely. I have heard of people being able to push them in by hand using this method. It is also how Marzocchi fix their steerers to their crowns but probably using more extreme temps than you can at home.

Cheers Guys, I'll have one more go before a trip to the LBS. Cup in the freezer and a hairdryer I think! My homemade press (threaded rod) has met its match!!

You might well be doing this but only do one end of the headset at a time. Don't try and press in both cups at once, far more likely to go awry.
