I have a 2012 Kona Abra Cadabra frame which has a tapered head tube and runs an inset headset. I ordered a Marzocchi 44 Switch TA fork from Chain Reaction last week which was advertised as tapered and turns out to be standard 1 1/8 size! Unfortunately these forks are no longer available anywhere else and finding a tapered version is near impossible!!
I have seen that you can run a standard steerer in a tapered tube with a headset lower cup adapter but does this have any detrimental effect on the performance? Does anyone have any experience of this? Or am I better off holding out for a tapered version?
Just bang a Hope adaptor - HS136 - on.
No problems at all on 2 bikes and 4 sets of forks for me over the last 18 months.
Awesome, thanks for that.
Do you know if the HS136 work with any brand tapered headset, I think it will be an FSA no.57 or Cane Creek?
Yes should be fine. All it does is make your fork steerer diameter larger so your existing 1.5 inch crown race will fit correctly.
