I've fitted one of those low stack crank bros headsets to my blue pig. The cobalt DH one to be exact.
I'm sure I've fitted it properly however I have to tighten it really tight to get rid of the play and it's too stiff. There's knocking (like there's play still) there too which I notice when I'm riding. I can't tighten up the top cap anymore as like I said it's too tight.
Any ideas?
tighten the top cap until there is no play, then tighten the stem. After the stem is tightened loosen off the top cap by 1/2 a turn.
sounds like you need to add a spacer to fully compress the headset once you've done this, tighten the stem bolts and play should be removed.
Whatever you do, don't ride it in it's current state.
I have got enough spacers for a few mm between top of steerer and stem. I'll try what Andy said as long as its safe
