[#6716484]

Started putting my Transition covert together and just realised the headset that is fitted is for a tapered fork and i have a straight fork.
Can i just order a Hope crown race adaptor or do i need a different bottom cup?

Arse.

I use hs136 on a couple of forks, works fine but i did cut a slot through effectively making a split crown race adapter...not much give as its quite a chunk of aluminium but it did make fitting/removal a doddle

I've just fitted one to an on-one fatty carbon fork.

I greased the steerer and it needed a bit of a whack on the bit of old plastic waste pipe I use for non-split crown races but it wasn't worryingly tight.

I'd probably want to use the proper tool for the job when I remove it though, not just hammer a stanley knife blade between the race and crown like I usually do.

Dremel with a wee cutting disc...10 minute job. End of day its a £7 adapter so figured better to cut that than have the risk of damaging expensive forks trying to bash it on or off
