Hi, I'm trying to work out if I can use a Hope mix and match headset option on this frame and would appreciate a sanity check on what I think I understand.
I would initially run the frame with rigid 1 1/8 forks but would like the option to move to suspension ones, straight or tapered, in the future. I was also reading up on headset choice for the Cotic Solaris. So am I right in thinking that I could:-
1. install a Hope 2 integral option with the ZS44/28.6 top and EC44/40 1.5" bottom
2. then fit the conversion crown on my 1 1/8 forks so that I can run tapered or straight in the same headset
3. I would expect that the only straight steerer forks run would be the 80mm sus adjusted rigids and suspension forks would be 100mm tapered.
Would I be slackening off the angles for the 80mm fork by using the conversion rather than a switching to an integral bottom cup? If so would this be ok, it would be my preference if I didn't have to swap around cups.
I ended up getting a superstar headset with a 1.5 external bottom cup and two crown races, the fork adjusters (fox f29) fouled the down tube with an integrated bottom cup, just a matter of swapping crown races between different forks then, it rides better with the external cup as well, a bit less twitchy and more stable
