sorry, it's for a roadie.
I have a Trek 1000 that I bought several years ago and I am pretty certain the headset bearings have gone, but I am worried that if I take it apart to check what new bearings it needs, the bearing might pour out in a fine powder and I won't be able to use it to ride to work.
Does anyone know what sort of bearings it needs and where I can get replacements?
