I've removed my headset bearings so I was wondering if someone could answer a few questions I have.
1, What type of bearing is it. I've removed the circlip and took the bearing apart and it has loose ball bearings inside.
2, The bottom bearing feels gritty and quite stiff to turn so when I took the bearing apart the grease was sticky and looks like runny honey so that explains why it's stiff to turn. If I was to clean the old grease out of the bearing and repack it with new grease what type should I use.
3, Can I replace the bearing with something better.

You will need to measure them and see what replacement options are available.
Whip the digital calipers out and measure them or take them along to your local reputable bike shop and discuss your options.
