[Closed] Haynes type manual for bikes?

Is there such a thing? I'm quite handy with stuff like that i.e i'm not scared of changing oil/filter etc on the car.

Was cycling today thinking "what the hell would i need to do when my brake pads need changing?!"

I also like to save money so taking it to a shop for repair would ideally be the last resort.

Any advice/help very much appreciated! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

There is actually a Haynes one. But there are many others too. Pop into your local LBS (Local Book Shop - probably Waterstones) and flick through them and buy the best one. Buy it in the LBS before it disappears in the same way as your LBS (Local Bike Shop) might.

The two most common recommendations are "Zinn and the Art of Mountain Bike Maintenance" or Park Tool's "Big Blue Book".

I've got both and, while they're both excellent, overall I'd pick the Zinn one.

Just a little bit more real-world ("if you're out on the trail and you don't have the right tool, try thumping it like this...") and a bit less "use your Park TZ-417Y with a Park P24-562 head to tighten to 5Nm as measured on your Park HV-123".

Things li_e canging pads, I usually find a quick google for the instructions that come with the brake is the best thing to do. they're usually pretty easy to follow, and free. For basic stuff (eg taking tyre off without levers) I watch one of the zillions of youtube videos.
