I have a 2001 Marin Palisades Trail, it's got v-brakes at the moment, am looking to change that. On the rear the disc brake mount (or what I take to be the disc brake mount) is two threaded holes such that a screw coming out of either of them would run in the same direction as the hub (i.e. would be at right angles to the rim) and are about 1 inch apart. Is this a Hayes mount standard? It doesn't appear to be either IS or post-mount, or have I got this wrong?
If it's Hayes or some such can one buy adaptors?
TIA
Sounds like they could be rack mounts rather than disc mounts, would be easier if you could take a picture.
Thanks TheChunk, they are indeed rack mounts, the matching holes on the other side are a bit of a clue ... doh.
I take it that disc brakes are out for the rear then?
I think your only choice is something like an A2Z adaptor which works but isn't exactly an elegant solution.
Thanks again TheChunk, hadn't come across them and googling hadn't thrown them up either. Not too elegant I agree though, think I may just stick with v's on the back.
