So spraying wd40 too close to a set of hope brake pads has now giving me only rear braking!

Can they be salvaged, just keep riding with them, or bin?

Hold them over your gas ring, in the flame until they themselves burn with a blue flame. Once this stops clean your rotor thoroughly with IPA or similar whilst you wait for them to cool.
In case you are wondering, yes, been there, done that 🙂

There a few options but how successful depends how much oil has penetrated the pad.
Try heating the pads up over a gas hob.
Sand the top surface of the pad on a piece of flat sand paper.
Try a brake cleaner
Soak them in meths.

Or a combination of the above.

Don't forget to clean the rotor too

Sometimes it works but other times the best thing to do is replace with new.

If the oil got onto the pads it's on your disk to. Get the disc off and clean it properly I have been known to put them in the dish washer. The pads are absorbent so chances are the oil is well soaked into them.
Yes you can sweat it out a bit over the gas ring etc.
personally I would bin them. You run the risk of getting oil back on the clean discs and going on and on until you give up and buy the new pads.

just buy new pads and give the disc a good clean.
