Is there much riding around Haughmond Hill, Shrewsbury ?

Or perhaps anything close by...

There is quite a bit yes, some of it is excellent, the bit from the entrance just opposite the Abbey carpark leading up and along past the quarry is probably the best bit, both up and down.

There's a quite a bit of nice bermy jumpy stuff too, if coming up from Uffington on the bridleway go right when you get to the hill and then take a left (any will do) after about a 1/4 mile.

Just go and explore! Good bacon sandwich at the cafe in the carpark. Watch out for the dog shit ๐Ÿ‘ฟ

There are some nice trails at Haughmond Hill, however, the place is full of dog sh!t as no one seems to clear up after their dogs. Definite case of mudguards & crud catchers required all year round! If you go slightly further north, you can also find some nice riding around Grinshill, near Wem, we used to string both together in a ride. Best thing to do is get a 25 thou OS map and explore around.

The Mids used to do an evening night ride up round haughmond in the 90's starting from brooklands pub in meole and from the column. handy place to pop out for a quick ride - car park used to be 'interesting' at night time there.....

I did a little walking over the weekend...........yes I did notice the dog sh1t !

I did spot a few bits of singletrack along the way and I am planning on going back with the bike to explore...just wondered if there was enough there to keep me out of trouble ! ๐Ÿ˜‰

There is plenty to keep you occupied.

The Wild Wednesday Wheelers still go up there on a Wednesday night from Uffington or Upton Magna.

Nothing on the site for May as yet, I've ridden with them a few times and they are nice folk, drop Graham an e-mail and he'll add you to the mailing list, just prefer riding in smaller groups myself.

+ Stiperstones, Long Mynd, Nesscliffe, The Lawley, Hope Bowdler, Caer Caradoc etc

If you're new to the area you've got a lot of fun to look forwards too.

+1 Nick,

The Mids (Mid Shropshire Wheelers) old sunday ride was:

Start at Brooklands Pub, Ride out to Lawley via Condover, over Lawley, over Caer Caradoc, into Stretton, pizza and cake at burway cafe, over the mynd, over Stiperstones then either back on the road (with some jumps on the old white grit (shame they grassed it over..) or back through eastridge...

Yes, I did the long mynd a while back, I really enjoyed that one...

My family are originally from Shrewsbury and I am trying to explore more rides rather than sticking to my local stuff...
