I seem to remember seeing permissive bridelway signs by the toilet block, which would seem to be for that path... but whether it goes all the way into Hathersage I don't know, but it would seem to be rather silly if it didn't!

But then again, this is the Peak and pointless bridleways to nowhere do seem to be a speciality sometimes!

I rode down it last weekend and nobody shouted at me, not sure if that counts ๐Ÿ™‚

It's no gem but better than tarmac, I do hope it goes into the village as half of it is used by cars anyhow. Do these classification changes get published somewhere?

Have I missed any others?

just so you know, it is a permissive, but only sign posted at the bottom - in fact, only at the north lees hall gate I.e halfway down it,, so there's no way of knowing from either road that there's a bridleway linking them.

for a while a couple of years ago there was notices posted at the top but went awol pretty quick my opinion just confirms would be more cost effective for local authorities to be allowed to designate all paths as ok for cycling unless signposted otherwise ๐Ÿ™‚

This is one aspect of English riding I don't miss now I live in Scotland! The old 'am I breaking the law by riding here?' chestnut.

During my 2 years living in Sheffield and riding all over the Peaks I came to one major conclusion: Sheffield City Council have turned a lot of trails into bridleways over the years but where that bridleway crosses the county boundary into Derbyshire, it disappears or becomes a footpath. Thus showing the attitudes and priorities of the 2 different authorities.

Plus, Scotland is E M P T Y. I went on a 10 mile ride at a 'development' (one down from a trail centre) yesterday and saw NOBODY for 2 hours. No-one in the car park either. Only a bit of horse poo to tell me that someone else was there that day.

So is it just the top section or does it link with the gravel road that comes out of Hathersage village below the road.

As far as I know it is still a permisve bridleway, the change was made about two years back.
