[#2076186]

After a slightly shaky start (boring local ride just to get some miles in and a dislocated finger) I now officially love my new MmmBop. Did a loop from Edale yesterday culminating in Jacob's Ladder which I've not done on a hardtail before and though it was definitely harder work it was also a LOT of fun.

Yep - recently splashed out on a Lynskey hardtail after 3 or so years riding full sus. Am now a hardtail convert!

I'm no racing snake, but I now truly love climbing and going uphill.

I've just spent a week with switchbacks.com in Spain.

Conclusions:

2.5 dual ply supertacky's rock

Rear wheels are consumable items

My knees hurt

Hardtails are as quick as full sussers, but only over short distances before fear arm/leg pump kick in, and the the sussers leave them for dead once the rock gardens become boulder fields.

Seriously recomend them for a week if anyone here believes that the UK contains anything even remotely technical, most of the trails make Fort Bill look smooth!

Makes you pick your line better esp when I go back to the FS (except for crashing on jumps ๐Ÿ˜ณ )!!. I like HT, FS and road bike all for different reasons and get equal but different buzzes off them ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh yes. Fairly niche over here but huge in US with big smooth highways.

I'm not knocking the full sus, I shall be building up another one next year when I sell my Heckler frame, I'd just forgotten how much fun a hardtail can be and felt the need to share ๐Ÿ™‚

Good to hear flyingmonkeycorps as I'm picking up my new mmmbop from the post office tonight! Although I do tend to alternate between FS and hardtails on a 6 month rotation.
Went from a BFe to Prophet and now going to the MmmBop - pretty excited especially with winter coming. 'King cheap too at 150 squidlets.

Yes you do, my dad had a 1940's vellocette with (still working!) air forks and no rear suspension :p

Wrong!
Hardtail = boring + rattly*.

*Each to their own - as long as you were enjoying yourself ๐Ÿ™‚

As a man who just sold his hardtail to replace it with a short travel full-sus, I do agree. My last ride on the hardtail was a hoot as ever. You can't beat a lightweight hardtail for having fun getting the back end to step out of line when putting the power down out of corners.

I think my full-sus will be less tiring for racing, and quicker over bumpy stuff (you can't just sit in the saddle and keep pedalling the same way on a hardtail), but I'll always be keen to keep a hardtail/rigid bike in the stable when I have room and funds.
