...will it be ok to use instead of Shimano's own? I need to do a bleed job tomorrow and will have limited purchasing options

Yup

Well I use Halfords LHM mineral oil in my Shimano brakes with no probs. Have done for years

last time I went to the LBS to get mineral oil they told me to go down Halfords and get the LHM stuff for better value anyway.......

even better than that, go down to your local motor factors and you'll get a litre of LHM for about a fiver.

The big bottle will last you donkeys.

And like Kato i've been using the lhm instead for about 5 years without issue.
