Any one got any unbiased reviews or information on them? Doing an budget One-on build and Halfords are selling these for £90 for a full set of these brakes, rotas and mounts.

Cheers B

I would have thought these would be a better bet Clicky

I bought a set of those on ebay a few years back. They were branded as 'Armor' brakes. Nice lever, ok modulation, not very powerful. Still on my commuter. Some of the bolts have surface rust but the bike lives outside so that's no surprise.

[s]They were around that price. Not a bad deal really. [/s]

EDIT: they were around that price on ebay for a F&R set! The Halfords ones are a rip off!
EDIT2: OK must read OP... £90 is not so bad but there are better options out there.

I'd suggest avid bb7s (or whatever they're called this week) for that money. Aside from being cable actuated they work excellently

I'd be looking at the Avid 3's on CRC/Merlin, at least you've heard of them, so spare pads won't be an issue.

Magura Julies (old style) are £90 a set if I recall correctly, from Merlin.

The pads last forever, and they stop me perfectly happily, even when I was a 17 stone hunk of love riding round the peak district.

Isn't everyone in the world doing Avid Elixir 5's for £135 a pair?

Rubbish for £90, or excellent for £135.

on merlin site if you click on disc brakes, under avid clearance disc brakes there are some solid bargains. worth a look there, i'd say.
