Looking for recommendations for a half-link chain that’s strong enough to handle this heavy lump stomping on them.

It’s for a jump/pump track bike so weight isn’t that much of an issue.

First question. Why? Surely you only need one half for any given chain length requirement?

A half link for a normal chain, or a whole half link chain?

Half link chains are normally pretty wide and strong anyway - equiv to 8sp IIRC.

Used to use one on a SS bodged in a vertical dropout frame.

Just use whatever bmx chain kmc sell. Halflink chains look cool, I put quite a lot through my bike and never had an issue. All the load is straight (unlike a geared bike) so the chains last forever

I'm pretty sure I've got one knocking around, it's ridiculously sturdy. Let me know if you want it, you can have it for the cost of the postage

Sorry, I meant a complete half-link chain, not half a link for a normal chain.

There's a couple on SportPursuit at the moment - KMC. This one https://www.sportpursuit.com/catalog/product/view/id/2635628 and a gold one.

Gusset Slink, is a full half link chain and comes in both sizes,

I run one on my airdrop fade with mtb cranks, super strong, usually winstanley's have them cheap and they have come in a choice of colours.

I'd go for whichever looks prettiest in your preferred colour.

It's really the only reason to use a full half link chain rather than a proper chain with a single half link if required.

I run a Blank Halflink Chain (around 20 on Wiggle) on the commuter. After 18 months it appears to be absolutely indestructible, genuinely fit and forget.

Thanks for the replies, I hadn’t realised you could just add a single half link to a regular chain, I’ve filed that nugget away for the future.

Anyway, huge thanks to Shermer75 and his generosity.

Only if they both use the exact same pin size!
