Hey so I've brought a 2nd hand bike and the bearings were way passed there sell by date so have just replaced the bottom bracket but struggling to get the cranks back on…
its leaving a 1-2cm space on the drive side, I know its not unusual to have to give a tap with the mallet but this did nothing, even added a few whacks after getting frustrated but had to step away as was getting no where and getting close to the point of just smashing it in until it broke or fitted.
I usually stick to shimano so don't really have much experience with these gxp cranks any help muchly appreciated.

Yes, there is normally a gap.
