2 of my pals ride the older 26 EBB versions one fully rigid and the other with suspension, they both ride better than me and never seem to have any issues mechanically. probably of no use what so ever though.

I had a 26" ebb one a few years ago. It was a good bike but ultimately not as good as my 853 inbred so I eventually sold it.

Only tip is that you need to be careful with the ebb if it's the same. Mine needed to be very tight to avoid slipping but eventually that slightly ovalised the bb shell though it didn't actually cause any problems.

Hi voodoo_chile

I've been the proud owner of a Peace SS 29er for the last 4 years.
I can safely say that in all my years of riding (I'm 43), it is the best bike I have ever had!

I'm not sure if it's an SS you are looking for, but if it is you will not regret it.

Mine is a 2008 model in Plum colour, so close to zero 'bling' factor (important for me), that I picked up via eBay, from a lovely chap in Cambridge who was about to emigrate, so with close to no miles on the bike I got it for £250 as far as I can remember.

How to describe the feel of riding it...well, do you remember back when you were a kid, that a bike was a bike, no orgiastic dick waving obsession with tricked out logo coated components, just a machine that you played on with a huge grin on your face?...well for me, that's the GT Peace SS 29er!

One of my favorite pastimes is heading to a local patch of common land that is covered with thick grass covered mole hills. Now other riders I know cannot ride over these as there chain ring and bottom bracket gets constantly stuck, but with the elevated setup on the 29er, I just sail over them like a skiff on waves!

I'm 5'10/11" so I chose the medium size frame - no idea the frame size in inches - so it is wonderfully easy to throw the bike from side to side whilst standing up without cracking your inner thighs.

Components?...see my comment about above about fun versus obsession. Seriosly though, I have never had any problems with the original setup it came with. The bottom bracket and pedal arms are Truvative Howitzers so built like rock and cheap to replace if they ever completely bite the dust. The bars are Eastern Monkey Bars and the stem is an Eastern something or aother, so again chaep to replace and low low bling factor. Avid something mechanical disc brakes - really easy to play with, and no faffing with hydraulic fluids - and stop the bike on a penny. The frame of course, is in wonderfull steel!

So, if you are a chest puffing peacock whose biking highpoint is to talk components and flash off designer logo splattered clothing screaming 'look at my individualism!' at your local bike trail, in front of similarly festooned plebs...then this bike is not for you.

If, however, you want to jump on a performance tractor of a bike, hit any terain from Urban playing to XC, and come away feeling 20 years younger, then this is the bike for you.

I hope my waxing lyrical has been of use to you, and happy biking!

Oh, I have dropped a link below to a bunk of civilised people descussing the veritably merits of the Peace 29er.

I had a white 29er, 2008 model I think, with V-Brakes. I was using it mostly to commute at the time, with the occasional off road jaunt. Wasn't really suitable for the commute at all and ended up getting a Pompino instead. Only now though, do I really appreciate just how good it was. For how much they were, I think they were an absolute bargain, nice versatile frames, not-too rigid forks. Seen people with drop bars, fixed gears. Really regret selling mine.........
Think it might have been a slow seller for GT, maybe the time is right for a 2013 re-release?

Nice to see you managed to pick one up, SS or geared? A mate is in love with my one and wants to pick one up himself. which colour/year did you get and where did you source it from?
Seat clamp diameter? Well it looks like a lot of Peace's were shipped out with 26.8 seat posts instead of 27 (see below thread)
