We've got a long weekend booked and are staying at a cottage near Grosmont. We'd like to use the North York Moors Railway to get to Pickering, and then ride back. I've spotted a decent route that finishes at Goatland, but am a bit stuck for ideas of off road routes between Goatland and Grosmont - anyone on here with local knowledge who could suggest a route please?
(I think the Rail Trail footpath might be a bit too cheeky at weekends this time of year)

The obvious road/byway route via Beck Hole and Dale End is pleasant enough. Certainly very little traffic usually. You'll hear the trains in the valley below, and try not to fall off in the fords as you come into Grosmont 😉
