[#2265352]

Does anybody have any route details for trails around the Grizedale forrest area. I am in the area for a week in January and will be taking the bike along. I hear that TNF trail is a bit tame?

Thanks

Kurt.

There's more BW (and FP...) in Grizedale than you could possibly explore in a week!
Parking at the new Visitor Centre is a rip off and a lot of the small "lay-by" style car parks nearby also have fees associated with them now. The new cafe is nice though. 🙂 There's also a decent bike shop there if you need emergency spares.

As for routes - pick a trail. It's worth having a GPS or compass with you as it's quite easy to get disorientated in there. The Bogtrotters ride there regularly and there will be route ideas and pics galore on that website. simonfbarnes will probably be along shortly as well...

TNF makes a decent enough linking route to get the most out of the network of BWs. Over Claife Heights way (NE of Grizedale) is very good as well, there's more than just "the forest" there. Over Coniston way is Parkamoor and Lawson Park.

Have a look on the bogtrotters website, there'll be loads of routes on there.

Good bits to do are lawson park, parkamoor, ickenthwaite, breasty haw & countless others. Its all fairly close together aswell, and the walna scar isnt too far away either.

If you post up on the ride the lakes website I am sure a friendly local will show you round. If your up during the weekend I might be able to make it out.
