Just picked up an old Raleigh’s revenio disk from 2015 for commuting duties. Whilst it has mudguards mounts on the frame, it has none on the fork

what a stupid design..

I had a really nice ride to work, only to then ride through the biggest pile of splattery dog poo just before I got to the office. There was sweetcorn on my downtube. Blergh.

Spotted tyre tracks right through a sloppy dog poo on the shared path - that's going to be unpleasant.

I got my arm 'nibbled by an out of control German Shepherd this morning. Stupid old lady couldn't control it. I was going slow as I was passing a pedestrian. Decided to stop when it's teeth got my wrist (gloves on) bloody thing was going for me if I moved. Not good when the owner tells you to kick the dog. FFS.

She's getting full barrels if it happens again. Second dog to go for me on this recreation park in two months (where dogs are supposed to be on leads).  Dog Warden alerted again. WTF is wrong with these dog owners.

Back to mudguards, many use straps. The other option is a P-Clip

Indeed.
And I have a 2020 Merlin G2P with the same. Apparently it is a 'feature'...

Could have been worse. Last thing you want is corn on the cog.

I'm getting to the point in the big box of crisps multipack that there are a dangerously high level of prawn cocktail ones left and no salt and vinegar

Dogs don't eat sweetcorn.
People eat sweetcorn.

Have you met most dogs? They'll eat anything they can get their paws on given the chance. I think the day that trying to open one of those push to seal type bags of frozen sweetcorn, the combination of a damp bag and a sudden give way of the seal and depositing 200g of frozen sweetcorn on the kitchen floor is still in my dog's best 5 days ever. It was like a furry hoover - and then it was goldrush for days after.

"Dog bombs" is a corny phrase, but it covers it well.
