Just trying to plot a route, not sure about the best way back to Staveley.
Do we follow the BW through Long Houses then back on ourselves through Birk Rigg, follow Hall Beck?

Yes, but turn West off Staveley Head, descending between the plantations on Millrigg Knott, instead of south down Hall Beck.

Through long houses, then turn right at the 'S' of staveley head fell on streetmap 1:50000!
