This summer I finally got round to riding the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route after first getting the idea and buying the maps way back in January 2000!

An amazing adventure and easily the best cycle tour I have done yet. The only downside was that my wife had to go home from Steamboat Springs after struggling for over a week with her asthma at high altitude.

Hope you enjoy the photos and that it inspires many of you to finally do it too. A write up of our trip should appear on the Stockport Clarion site by November.

very interested indeed. It's a dream of mine to do the Lewis and Clark route, south of the Great Lakes to the Pacific, just over 3,000miles...

I had a look over the pics at lunchtime. Definitely a trip I would like to do before long.

Sorry to hear about your partner having to head back early, but i guess she got a taster.

I crossed the Lewis and Clark somewhere in South Montana, I think.

I'm not sure what is next for me maybe Bolivia or the Himalayas in the long term and something much easier inbetween like cycle touring in France.

Maggie was gutted about having to head home.

I then had to get my head down and do the remaining 1200 miles in 12 days!! Lost a stone in weight over the trip and I think most of that was in those last 12 days.
