Can anyone recommend me some good value forks (preferably carbon) for my gravel bike that can take a 45c tyre and are standard QR?

Currently using the standard carbon ones on my Arkose but these a very tight.

I assume you are talking 700c wheels? Have you considered dropping to 650b? I say this because 45mm tyres on a 700c wheel are going to be big, really big.

Yes, 700c. I've got the 45c on now and love them, most of my riding is off road / singletrack so the wider tyres are ace.

Dont really want to have to go down the route of changing the wheels as that will prove very expensive.

Doesnt the new Arkose fork accommodate 45 wide tyres? Maybe ask JamesO on the Arkose thread?

How much is a new fork going to cost you? Also what clearance do you have at the back?

Another reason to check out a 650b option. More suited to singletrack twists and turn and sharp accelerations. 700x45 must be like driving a boat though those turns.

Regular QR Hubs. Arkose forks are up to 40mm - hence my 45s are tight:-)

The Kinesis Tripster QR forks are up to 45mm - Anyone have experience of these??

^they make sense, a pair of lightly-used 650b shod with maybe 2.1s would be a great switch-set and keep the 700c for tarmac.

The cost may be roughly equivalent to a new carbon fork if you can bag a good deal on wheels.

I may have a spare set of post mount ATR forks for sale. I have the original ISO mount versions on the bike and don't really see a reason to swap them now. If anyone wants to PM me and make an offer I'll sort some pics out.

EDIT: .. and measure them if needed, forgot that bit 😀

Brassneck - If you could let me know the size of the gap at the top that would be good. A picture with a tape measure would be great 🙂

The forks on my Pickenflick have room for the Specialized Trigger 700x47 tyres. Don't know if OnOne sell the forks seperately?

You should also be considering the rake and axle to crown length in your decision else you could end up with something handling and feeling quite different, or you might not notice it at all 🙂

OK, measured - I reckon its about 50mm at the top of the arch though the fork shape makes being precise a bit tricky. A piece of paper folded to 45mm fit comfortably.

Going to try an icloud link ...

Depending on your current fork axle-to-crown, how about 26”-wheel MTB forks?

https://www.carboncycles.cc/?p=1251&#top

I’ve got the 42.5cm version on my Roadrat with Spesh Trigger 700x47 and full length guard. Heaps of clearance. They’re 25mm longer than the standard fork on my bike but it suits me and my use perfectly.
